Jason Bailey focuses on the practical decisions that make plein-air painting manageable: selecting a subject, reducing visual complexity, establishing a strong value pattern and using colour and brushwork expressively. Participants paint ordinary urban scenes around Springfield rather than chasing postcard views, learning to respond to changing light while retaining a clear composition and personal point of view.
El entorno
The group paints in and around Springfield, Kentucky, with The Art Distillery coordinating the programme. Exact daily meeting points and weather arrangements should be confirmed with the organiser before arrival.
La estancia
Accommodation is optional and not included. The Wildflower Ranch Inn is on the same property and advertises a 25 percent workshop discount with a four-night minimum, subject to availability. Nearby Airbnb options and a Hampton Inn are also suggested.
Bueno saberlo
The workshop runs October 23 to 25, 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. Tuition is USD 595 and the class limit is 15. It is open to all levels. Participants bring the materials on the organiser's supply list and arrange their own meals, travel and accommodation.
