El espacio
Use medieval Barga as the starting point for six days of drawing and painting with Jane Richardson and a guest artist. Participants search for a sense of place through street and landscape observation, try graphite, pastel, pencil, watercolour, gouache, acrylic, oil bars, collage and ink-resist processes, then develop selected studies into finished work for an optional public exhibition.
El entorno
Quattro Archi is in the Tuscan town of Barga, with cobbled streets, sunlit piazzas, historic architecture, and views toward the Apuan Alps. Shops, restaurants, cafes, the Duomo, and drawing viewpoints are within walking distance.
La estancia
Residential tiers include six nights and breakfast in shared or private rooms at Quattro Archi. Self-catering kitchens are available, while lunch and dinner are not included apart from the programme's stated dinners.
Bueno saberlo
The retreat welcomes all levels and balances structured exercises with optional independent work. Materials and varied papers are included, with additional supplies available to buy. An arrival minibus runs from Pisa and Lucca at a time to be confirmed; return airport travel is not included.

Itinerario
Arrival in Barga
Arrive from 16:00, settle into the accommodation, and join welcome drinks and dinner on the terrace.
Sense of place
Prepare concertina sketchbooks, draw outdoors with graphite, pastel and pencil, explore techniques, and visit the Duomo for local reference.
Mixed-media development
Work with watercolour, gouache, pen, oil bars, acrylic, collage, mark making, and ink-resist processes in outdoor and studio sessions.
Final work and exhibition
Develop selected pieces, prepare an optional public pop-up exhibition, and close with a final dinner before departure the following morning.

Coste
Prices range from GBP 699 for a day student to GBP 1,758 for one participant in a large private ensuite room. The residential rate starts at GBP 896 per person for two friends sharing an ensuite room.
