El espacio
Join artist Charlotte Andrew for a small residential art retreat in the Sabine Hills, about an hour north of Rome. Across four programme days, explore drawing and painting alongside visits to frescoes and nearby hill towns. Charlotte demonstrates hands-on methods connected to fresco practice, including oak gall ink, gesso and earth colours, then gives participants time to apply these materials to their own images of the landscape and local culture. Two cooking lessons introduce regional dishes, with an Italian cook joining the group.
El entorno
The retreat is based in the Sabine Hills in Lazio. Charlotte's programme includes local cafés, hill towns and visits to historic frescoes beyond Rome's usual tourist routes. Site-visit transport is included.
La estancia
The published fee covers five nights of accommodation. The retreat house has a swimming pool and space for up to eight guests in shared apartments with separate rooms. Single occupancy can be discussed with Charlotte.
Bueno saberlo
The price includes five breakfasts, four lunches, all evening meals, basic art materials, a sketchbook and transport for site visits. Meals in local restaurants are extra. Group airport transfer from Rome Fiumicino or Ciampino can be arranged when guests arrive and leave together; collection from Poggio Mirteto station is also available. Arrive in the afternoon on 3 June and leave in the morning on 8 June. Ask Charlotte to confirm the current schedule and travel arrangements.

Arrive in the afternoon on 3 June and settle into the retreat house.
Explore materials and fresco methods
Take part in Charlotte's workshops on ink, gesso and earth colours, with time to sketch and paint.
Visit local art and cook together
See frescoes and hill towns during local excursions, and join two lessons preparing regional food.
Finish and depart
Continue your own work during the programme and depart after the final night on the morning of 8 June.

Coste
GBP 1,300 per person with a shared apartment. The organiser also lists an early-bird price of GBP 1,200 three months before the course.
