O espaço
Zakia Khan approaches watercolour as a responsive, observational practice, using the Umbrian landscape as a starting point rather than a fixed image to copy. Mornings are generally devoted to guided painting, while afternoons may combine excursions, further painting or independent time. Beginners receive practical support and demonstrations; experienced participants can develop their own subjects with feedback while the group works outdoors whenever conditions allow.

The retreat is based around Monte Santa Maria Tiberina in Umbria. The exact property depends on final group size, but the programme is rural and may involve uneven ground and steps. Excursions introduce nearby landscapes and towns as subjects for observation and painting.
A estadia
Five nights in a private room are included for every guest. The exact rural property is selected according to group size. Home-cooked meals and local wine form part of the stay, and participants should be comfortable with countryside terrain, steps and uneven surfaces.

Dates are March 26 to 31, 2027. The early-booking price is EUR 2,400 before December 31, 2026, rising to EUR 2,700 afterwards; a EUR 300 deposit secures a place. Art supplies, meals, excursions and scheduled airport or station transfers are included. The group is limited to seven.

Arrival in Umbria
Transfer to the retreat property, settle into a private room and meet the small group over a shared meal.
Morning painting
Work outdoors with guided watercolour exercises and support adapted to your experience.
Afternoon exploration
Join an excursion, continue painting independently or gather references in the surrounding landscape.
Aperitivo and dinner
Return for a relaxed evening with local wine, home-cooked food and conversation about the day's work.
Closing and departure
Review the work made during the retreat and use the arranged transfer for onward travel.

Custo
€2,400 per person with a private room if booked and deposited before 31 December 2026; €2,700 thereafter. The €300 deposit is stated by the organiser as refundable until eight weeks before arrival. Five nights, meals, local wine, transfers, excursions and art materials are included.
