L'espace
The workshop takes place in The Landgrove Studio, a post-and-beam space with natural light, tables and room to paint. Rick Shiers begins with drawing foundations, then introduces materials, light and shadow, composition, colour mixing and perspective. Participants work toward paintings from direct observation or photo references, including landscape, portrait or still-life subjects. Acrylic paint and supplies are included; participants may bring their own materials and use oils. The class is capped at 15.

The Landgrove Inn and studio sit in Landgrove, Vermont, near the Green Mountain National Forest. The inn is a base for a quiet residential painting week in southern Vermont.
