Grotta AIR was built right next to the entrance of Gruta de las maravillas, one of the largest caves in Spain, and is amazingly beautiful inside. The residency is placed in a perfect spot: a lively street during the morning with many restaurants around but very calm in the evening and only 50 meters away from the forest. Grotta is a typical andalusian house: in the first floor you will find the living area and the studio is located in the ground floor. They are independent spaces but there is also an indoor access. Aracena is a typical Andalusian village, with whitewashed houses contrasting against the green landscape of the mountains. Its town centre, an official Property of Cultural Interest. The built heritage of Aracena is notable for its fortifications, including the castle and many churches and monasteries. There is also an interesting outdoor Museum of Contemporary Art. Under the mountain you can find a hidden treasure: a natural cave where you can enter a world of fantasy. Gruta de las Maravillas (las Maravillas grotto) is one of the largest caves in Spain, and is amazingly beautiful inside. It includes twelve underground chambers, six lakes, and countless stalactites and stalagmites. Grotta AIR was built right next to the entrance of this wonderful cave. The residency is placed in a perfect spot: a lively street during the morning with many restaurants around but very calm in the evening and only 50 meters away from the forest. You can hike to the castle or just choose one of the many hiking routes to go for a walk. Near the town you will find pasture, a river, a lake, and an unpolluted fauna and flora. We are able to provide a single room with a desk and workspace for one person, a double room for couples with a desk or two different rooms for collectives so the members don’t need to share the bedroom space. The kitchen is located on the second floor of the house. You can cook your own meals and use the kitchen supplies and equipment. Sometimes residents share meals with the team. Grotta is a friendly place, so we invite all the residents to attend a welcome dinner/farewell party organized by the staff. Our 200 m2 studio is open 24/7, including a toilet and a little tea space. It is possible to work outside in the park as well, just 20m. Away from the house. Artists are responsible for supplying their own materials. The Artistic Village Nicole’s atelier is located near Menton, on the Italian side of the French Riviera, overlooking the sea, on clear days, you can even glimpse Corsica on the horizon. It is a living, breathing artistic environment where creativity flows through every corner. Here, Nicole guides artists and creatives through immersive stone‑sculpting journeys, blending technique, intuition, and personal transformation. The village surrounding the atelier is truly unique: mermaid mosaics, sculptures embedded in ancient stone walls, lush gardens filled with plants and flowers, nature everywhere. 🏡 Accommodation Options (limited availability!) The Bulbul Art-Residence was opened in 2023 in the village of Besh-Kungei, 15 minutes from Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. The residency is curated by artist Syinat Zholdosheva and Ruslan Ismailov together with the founders of the Bishkek School of Contemporary Art (BiSCA). Bulbul is family-run residency where artists work in close contact with local culture, nature, and the everyday rhythms of family life. The residency is located on the second floor of a family house and has a separate entrance from the terrace. The resident area includes: - Two bedrooms - Shared bathroom - Shared kitchen - A terrace - A 50 m² studio with a separate entrance from the terrace The studio can host small events, performances, readings, and live presentations. The house has Wi-Fi, heating, and is suitable for long focused work periods. Kampi ya Lucki - Kakamega Forest Residency
Western Kenya, along Kakamega-Webuye road: 300 meters before Kambiri junction.
Kampi ya Lucki sits against a granite outcrop on the edge of the Kakamega Rainforest, one of the last fragments of the ancient forest that once stretched across East Africa, with the Nandi Hills escarpment rising on the other side. It began as a conservation project: land left to regenerate, beekeeping in its wilder corners, indigenous trees given room to return. Hosting artists grew out of that same instinct, a belief that creative work and the land it happens on shouldn't be separate things. We invite you to spend a month here, letting that connection shape your work. You'll sleep in one of the new lodges, designed and built by Lucki himself from local materials, with hot water and electricity, and work in a separate studio cabin set apart, closer to the forest. Days move at the forest's pace: early light, long open hours, afternoon tropical rain, walks into the rainforest reserve, meeting local communities, evenings by the rock. This residency is for artists who want to disconnect from routine in the rural landscapes of Western Kenya and reconnect, through landscape, material, and the local community, to the forest and what it can bring to their practice.

Creative Media Production Residency • Munich, Germany GOOD OR ARTY THINGS is an independent art showroom and creative space in Munich dedicated to contemporary art, design, digital culture and creative experimentation. Next to this we support startups with our various skills and are creating a platform for artist (www.goodorartythings.store). This residency is an opportunity for a visual storyteller to create authentic content while enjoying the life in Munich. Watch out: There will be also slots available during Oktoberfest! You will reside in our cute little appartment located directly next to our store/showroom. We have exciting machines for fabrication and digital production: We have two Bambu Lab P1S FDM 3D printers, an Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K resin printer, an Acmer P3 laser cutter/laser engraver, as well as an I-Draw pen plotter. In addition, we provide equipment for video and photography production. This includes two Panasonic Lumix GH5 cameras with cinema lenses, prime lenses, and various interchangeable lenses. We also have audio equipment available, including microphones and a 4-track audio recorder. For lighting, we provide a Velvet 2 studio light as well as LED panels.

BigCi is an independent, artist run, not for profit artist residency program focusing on artists’ professional development and facilitating their projects. BigCi has been established and run by Rae Bolotin, a practicing artist, and Yuri Bolotin, environmentalist and wilderness explorer. Because of our location on the edge of Wollemi National Park within the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Greater Blue Mountains and the knowledge base of our team, many of our resident artists are particularly interested in projects that explore environmental or ecological issues, although many others use our beautiful natural surroundings as a source of creativity for a variety of different artistic pursuits. All residents have opportunities to take part in bushwalks conducted by Yuri Bolotin, an experienced mountain guide and author, and to learn first hand about the unique natural environment of the area. Artists-in-residence are able to present their work during a BigCi Open Day that usually takes place at the end of their stay.

The Mesoamerican Codex Painting Instructional Program acknowledges the rich artistic heritage of Mesoamerican codices and offers a nuanced perspective that connects traditional tlacuilo —painter-scribes trained in complex artistic traditions— painting techniques with contemporary artistic practices. This 3-week mentored production program includes 27 hours of master instruction by Arquetopia’s studio maestro, who teaches techniques historically associated with the extraction of color, the production of pigments used on amate paper, and the painting methods employed in codex creation. Instruction focuses on learning and experimentation with traditional pigments, organic and mineral color preparation, amate painting processes, line work, and related codex painting techniques. Instruction is in Spanish, though participants need not speak Spanish to successfully complete the course. Individual mentoring is provided by our directorial and curatorial staff for personalized project guidance and critique. Participants also work independently in our spaces. Instruction focuses on the preparation and use of organic and mineral pigments historically associated with codex production, including cochineal, Maya blue, earth pigments, and organic binders.

Myoju 明珠 — meaning “shining pearl” — is an artist residency rooted in the quiet richness of Shiga, shaped by the nature and deep history of Lake Biwa and the belief that each person carries a unique inner radiance. Located in Omihachiman, a historic merchant town and home of the Biwako Biennale, about 35 minutes from Kyoto, the residency offers a setting where Western contemporary perspectives meet an Eastern historic landscape. Alongside the residency, we operate a small gallery café that serves as a gentle meeting point between artists and the local community. ARTErraCascina Prunetto — flexible artist stays on a working farm in the Alta Langa
Prunetto, Piemonte
Three private bedrooms, each with a double bed and its own bathroom, plus a separate 50 m2 stone cabin with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a garden with a terrace. The cabin is still under construction. To work in there are sheds, an old water silo and a shared living room of about 100 m2, along with basic technical gear: speakers, audio interfaces, projectors and a clay oven for ceramics. The kitchen is professional, and you can cook alone or join the family meals for a small contribution. Prunetto sits at 800m in the Alta Langa, on the border with Liguria, looking across the valleys towards the Alps. The sea is an hour away by car, Genoa an hour and a quarter, Turin an hour and a half. Walking trails lead straight from the farm into the forest. Pick-up from the nearest train station or airport is possible. From September the stay is shaped around what you need rather than a fixed programme: one week or three months, alone or in a small group, high season or deep winter. There are no mandatory presentations and no required outcomes. The hosts describe it as space to make without finishing, with room for slow research and the productive dead ends. You set the rhythm, and the conversation is there when you want it. The farm is run by Anne Maike Mertens, farmer and theatre director, and Yannick Noomen, theatre actor, who made theatre in the Netherlands for nearly fifteen years with their company Nineties before moving here. It is a working organic farm: edible flowers and herbs, walnuts from thirty trees pressed into oil, millefiori-acacia honey from eight hives, and a polycultural kitchen garden. Artists from any discipline are welcome, solo or as duos. They prefer a conversation to an application form.

A rural centre for creative work in a masia in the Tarragona countryside, Catalonia, roughly an hour from Barcelona. Nectar combines co-working and co-living: you get quiet, unhurried time for your own project, shared meals, and the company of other people working on theirs. The setting is the draw, with limestone ridges, woodland and long views over the valley. Nectar has hosted artists since 2018 through its NECTAIR residency programme, which included exhibitions and collaborations with Galeria angels barcelona, Art Nou and On Mediation. It also runs RURALCREA, supporting cultural, research and creative projects in small rural towns across the province of Tarragona, in dialogue with the territory, its inhabitants, landscape and memory. Stays suit artists, writers, designers and researchers who want to step out of the city and work at a slower pace. Exact dates, length and conditions are arranged directly with the hosts.

Founded in 2020, Anceu houses 15-20 remote workers and creatives at a time, combining 1 Gbps fiber coworking (a silent zone, a call-friendly zone, and two private call rooms) with shared meals, a pool, and hands-on local-impact projects. It co-founded Rural Hackers, a non-profit blending technology and art through workshops, open-source projects, and artist residencies rooted in the village. Rooms are individually decorated by past resident artists. Dogs are welcome ('dogmunity'); the space isn't set up for children. Optional communal dinners run Monday-Friday (20 euros/week), and the team can arrange pickup from the Ponte Caldelas train station.

The program emphasises connection between creative practice and the landscape — the flat, river-threaded plains of the Po are a very different Italy from the Tuscan hills or the Roman urban context. Artists who have worked here describe the surrounding flatness and the light as unexpectedly generative. Turin is approximately 45 minutes away and offers access to a strong contemporary art scene, including the Fondazione Sandretto and Castello di Rivoli.
