Listing tipsGetting started

Lead with great photos

Your photos are the single biggest factor in whether an artist clicks on your listing. Show the actual workspace, the sleeping area, the surroundings, and any unique features. Use natural light, clean the space beforehand, and shoot from angles that give a realistic sense of the room.

Include at least 4-5 photos. Artists want to see where they'll sleep, where they'll work, what the view looks like, and any communal spaces. Avoid overly styled shots that don't represent the day-to-day reality.

Write an honest description

Describe your space the way you'd describe it to a friend — honestly and with personality. Mention what makes it special (the light, the quiet, the community) and what might be a challenge (remote location, shared bathroom, limited kitchen).

Artists appreciate transparency. A listing that says 'rustic cabin with no central heating but incredible mountain views' will attract the right person. A listing that glosses over the rustic part will attract complaints.

Be clear about the exchange

Spell out exactly what you're offering and what you expect in return. Free accommodation in exchange for a finished piece? A studio residency where the artist covers their own meals? A paid opportunity with a stipend?

Specify the duration, the dates (or flexible range), what's included (materials, meals, transport), and what the artist is expected to contribute. The more specific you are, the better your applicants will be.

Highlight what makes you unique

There are many spaces that offer a bed and a table. What makes yours special? Maybe it's the community of artists nearby, the access to nature, the specialised equipment, or the cultural context of your region.

Tell the story of your space. How did it become a creative venue? What have past artists created there? This narrative context helps artists imagine themselves in your space and inspires stronger applications.

Keep it updated

If your availability changes, update your listing. If you've improved the space, add new photos. If a past artist left a review, highlight it. A listing that looks actively maintained signals that you're a responsive, engaged host.

Archive listings for dates that have passed and create new ones for upcoming availability. Fresh listings get more visibility and show that you're actively hosting.
