Three ways to host an artist

Artaway works for different kinds of hosts — whether you run a pousada, a residency program, or just have a spare room. Pick from three formats: trade your space for an exchange, run a residency, or commission a piece.

Open your space

Offer a room, a studio, a barn, a garden — trade your space and hospitality for the artist's time and work. No cash changes hands, just a human exchange. Best for homeowners, small creative spaces, and anyone who'd love a traveling artist to come stay and make something.

List your space

Run a residency

List your existing residency program and reach traveling artists around the world. Artists apply directly, you read their profile and portfolio, and accept or decline — no application forms to manage. Best for residency directors, cultural institutions, and founder-run retreats.

Commission a piece

Pay an artist to create something specific — a mural, an installation, a photo series, a workshop, a performance. You agree the fee and the brief upfront, and keep the work. You can also offer accommodation and meals as part of the package, but it's not required — each listing is different. Best for pousadas, hotels, retreats, cafés, restaurants, and any business with budget for a one-off commission.

How Artaway works

01

List your space

Describe the space, what you offer, and the kind of artist you're hoping to attract. Takes a few minutes and it's free.

02

Review applications

Read profiles and portfolios, message candidates before deciding, accept or decline. Everything in your dashboard.

03

Host the exchange

Once you accept an artist, you work out the details directly. We stay out of the way — no commission on whatever you agree.

From the community

The spaces we create in shape the work we make — every residency I've done has opened unexpected doors. Artaway gets that. It's a simple, human way to connect artists with the places and people that inspire them.

We're building a platform where art and hospitality go hand in hand. As we grow, we plan to reinvest back into the community through artist grants and studio support.
