...You'll have complete access to everything: the kitchen, living areas, the studio, and all the outdoor space. Fair warning: the dogs are spoiled. They sleep in the bedroom, on the sofa, everywhere they like. They're part of the living space, not kept separate. If you're coming here, you're living with them as part of the household. This is a place to create your own work, swim, sit with a view, walk land. The only responsibility: care for the animals (feed, water, walk the dogs, care for the cat, and yes, tolerate them sleeping on your sofa).
Competa, Andalusia, between Canillas and the coast. Rural mountain Competa, Andalusia, between Canillas and the coast. Rural mountain setting surrounded by olive groves, avocado trees, almond trees, and Mediterranean landscape. The property overlooks the coast all the way to Morocco—you wake up to that view. The house is isolated and quiet, but the village of Competa is a 10-minute walk away. It's cosmopolitan and alive—restaurants, bars, shops, expats, locals, a hospital. The beach is 30 minutes drive. You can reach the property by bus, taxi, or car from Málaga airport (45 minutes). So you have quiet and space, but you're not cut off. You can walk to the village for coffee or company when you want it, or stay in the solitude of the house and land. It's the best of both: remote enough to focus, close enough to access what you need.
Your day is yours. Feed and water the animals in the morning. Walk the dogs when you need a break. Otherwise: work in the studio, sit on the veranda with the view, swim (summer), sit with coffee, paint, write, think, rest. The house is quiet and basic—no TV, no distractions. You have internet access, the kitchen, the space, the outdoor areas. No luxury or pretense, just a real home where art happens and animals live. The rhythm is whatever you make it. The dogs are spoiled and will want to be wherever you are. They sleep in bedrooms, on sofas, follow you around. If you're not comfortable with that, this isn't the right place. If you love animals and don't mind a lived-in, simple home, you'll feel at home here.
Care for two dogs and cats while I travel. Feed them, water them, walk the dogs, give them attention and presence. That's the exchange. That's what I need. An artwork or creative contribution is never expected or required. This isn't about getting art in return—it's about my animals being cared for by someone present and thoughtful. If something creative naturally emerges from your stay, that's a gift. But it's not part of the deal.
This is a quiet, working space. No parties, no guests, no social gatherings. You're allowed to party only with the dogs. Otherwise: respect the quiet, care for the animals, leave the space as you found it.
This exchange is about real life, not a polished residency. Come ready to be part of a household with animals, art, land, and simplicity. No TV. No noise. Just the view, the work, and the animals. This is a rented property on a working farm. The owner is nearby and occasionally around the property. You'll have quiet and privacy in the house, but it's an active rural landscape, not a private retreat.
