My home is in the historical borgo of Montasola, between two narrow streets, with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The house has three levels, connected by staircases and arranged around a private courtyard on the middle level. The guest accommodation includes one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and views of the surrounding landscape. Guests also have access to a shared sitting and dining area with a kitchenette for preparing meals. If needed, two additional single beds can be arranged in the sitting room. For larger groups, further accommodation can be booked in the same borgo, just a few metres away. The studio and workshop are also on the middle level, opening directly onto the courtyard. The two rooms offer approximately 40 square metres of working space, equipped with an electric kiln, three tables, ceramic-making tools and everyday electric tools. An old easel is also available. The courtyard extends the studio outdoors, providing additional space to work, experiment or gather. The studio is primarily designed for ceramics, but painters, sculptors, writers and photographers are equally welcome. It offers space for independent artistic practice, experimentation and creative exchange.
Montasola is a small hilltop village in the Sabina hills, northeast of Rome, with beautiful views across the surrounding valleys. Its historic centre is accessible on foot, with narrow streets and plenty of steps. The car park is situated around the borgo. Bus connections to the village are limited, so renting a car is the most convenient way to explore the region. There is a small grocery shop below the village, although a car makes everyday shopping easier. Fiumicino Airport is connected by train to Poggio Mirteto station, where I can arrange pickup by prior agreement. From there, we can also arrange occasional trips to nearby towns, archaeological sites, lakes and other places of interest, depending on availability. The village park offers a large grassy area, terraces, an amphitheatre, an outdoor gym and a bar serving food throughout the day. It is a relaxed place to meet, unwind or enjoy a meal outdoors.
Artists are free to organise their own working rhythm and follow their interests. While ceramics is at the heart of mANIma, other artistic disciplines are equally welcome. You might come to focus on your own practice, experiment with an unfamiliar material, or let one medium lead you towards another. A writer might find inspiration in clay, just as a ceramic artist might explore words or images. There is room for independent work, experimentation and the exchange of ideas, as well as for sharing activities and discovering the surroundings together. Each stay can take its own shape, depending on the people, their interests and what they feel like exploring. There are also opportunities to share work beyond the studio. The village and its surroundings offer various spaces where pop-up exhibitions, installations or informal presentations can be arranged, giving artists a chance to bring their work into the local environment
Respect each other’s privacy, routines and shared spaces.
