Sant’Agata di Puglia is a historic hilltop village in southern Italy, offering an inspiring setting for an international mural art project. The Municipality is considering making a wall in Via Risorgimento available for artists to create public artworks inspired by the village’s history, traditions, landscape and local identity. Artists will be encouraged to explore the village, meet residents and develop their mural concepts in dialogue with the local community. The project aims to connect contemporary art with local heritage and create lasting public artworks. Each artist will be assigned a section of wall measuring approximately 5 meters in length by 2 meters in height. The Municipality may provide an official invitation letter and contribute up to €300 per selected artist towards mural materials. Artists are responsible for developing their own projects and applying individually for Culture Moves Europe funding, subject to eligibility and approval. Please note that a dedicated art studio has not been confirmed, so artists should discuss their workspace needs with the host before making plans.
Sant’Agata di Puglia is a small historic village in the province of Foggia, Apulia, southern Italy. Its historic streets, traditional architecture, rural surroundings and panoramic views offer plenty of inspiration for artists interested in place-based art and cultural research. The village provides an opportunity to experience local life away from large tourist centres and discover the cultural identity of an authentic Italian community. Artists should plan their journey to Sant’Agata di Puglia in advance.

Community meetings will encourage participation and cultural exchange. We aim to welcome several international artists during the same period, creating opportunities for collaboration and a shared artistic experience. The project may conclude with a public presentation of the murals and the creative process. Travel, meals and accommodation: Artists are expected to cover their travel and living expenses through individual applications to Culture Moves Europe. The programme may provide a travel grant and a daily allowance to contribute towards these costs, subject to eligibility and approval. The host may help identify accommodation and meal options at agreed, discounted rates. European funding is not guaranteed, and artists should verify that their budgets are sufficient before confirming their stay. The Municipality may provide an official invitation letter and up to €300 per selected artist towards mural materials.
