Three ways to find your next project
Artaway connects artists with spaces — local, remote, or across the world. Hosts who offer rooms, meals, and studios in exchange for art, residency programs with structured support, and commercial gigs that pay a fee. Pick the path that fits where you are right now.

Find an exchange
Stay in an inspiring space — a studio, a farmhouse, a city apartment, a coastal retreat — in exchange for your time and your work. No cash changes hands. You arrive with your practice, create something for the host, and leave with a story. Best for artists who want to travel and create at the same time.
Apply to a residency
Apply to a structured residency program at a retreat, institution, or founder-run space. Longer stays, dedicated studio time, often with materials, accommodation, and a clear project framework. Best for artists ready to focus on a specific body of work in a new environment.
Take a paid gig
Hosts with a budget commission artists to create something specific — a mural, an installation, a photo series, a performance. You agree the fee and the brief upfront, create on-site, and get paid. Some hosts also offer accommodation and meals — check each listing for what's included. Best for artists with a commercial practice who want to earn on the road.

“In four months I did five art exchanges across Brazil, Spain, Portugal, the UK and Morocco — earth pigment workshops, murals, watercolor residencies. Each time I received everything in return: accommodation, food, workspace, materials.”
