Espacio Amazonas is a pioneering space in the Carabanchel neighbourhood, created by Latin American women living in Madrid. It works as a place for creation, exhibition, training and meeting for migrant artists, artisans and researchers from Latin America. They look for exchanges with artists whose work speaks to the themes of the space: migration, gender, memory, the Latin American diaspora, feminist practice. That could be a photo series, a mural, an open workshop for the community, a piece of research or a one-off intervention. The proposal is worked out together with the team. During the stay the artist has a work space inside the centre, access to the programme, and an active network of migrant artists in Madrid.
