Residents have private sleeping and personal space across two shared houses, with shared kitchens and living areas, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, laundry, patios, a sunroom and access to a movement/yoga studio. The setting supports independent work rather than a prescribed production schedule.
The residency is in Joshua Tree, California, in a quiet desert setting reached by dirt roads. Residents can explore the landscape and connect with the wider Joshua Tree arts community.
Each three-week session combines focused individual practice with opening, midpoint and closing conversations, local exploration and a cross-pollination session. There is no required collaboration, finished work or final exhibition.
No smoking indoors. Pets are not permitted; trained service animals can be accommodated.
The program welcomes visual and interdisciplinary artists, writers, composers, choreographers, performance and sound artists, as well as researchers, scientists and journalists with active creative practices. Applications are free and accepted on a rolling basis.
3 weeks
$900 per resident for a three-week residency. The fee covers housing, shared amenities, access to the movement studio, program conversations and community connections. Residents cover travel, meals, materials and personal expenses.
