About this opportunity
The space
Foray is a large and chic creative home and B&B with 10 bedrooms, shared communal spaces (big living room, coworking, library, shared kitchen...), studios (painting, craft, music, wood/metal work...) and outside amenities such as our beautiful sauna with a view.
Surroundings
Nestled in 10 acres of garden, between forest and river, Foray is a beautiful estate of the lush burgundy countryside. Only 1h15 from Paris (Bercy or Gare de Lyon station), for a very affordable price. We pick you up from Joigny station (7min away from Foray).
Life during a stay
Wake up to a generous French breakfast and start your day by setting up your work station of the day (in the library? By the bay window, facing the valley? Under the oak tree in the garden?). Find your rythm and embrace your flow in this peacefully productive haven for creation. Take a break and go for a swim in the river, for a forest walk or bike to Joigny to enjoy it's market and it's unique medieval old town. Join for dinner the shared table and meet fellow creatives, foreign travellers and curious locals. Play music or pool, have a chat, meet your new collaborators. What about a listening session? Or cinema screening? An improvised concert? Setlle for the night in your comfortable bedroom and dream about exciting new ventures of tomorrow.

Artists are free to explore their own project. No productivity is expected, you do you, boo.
House rules
No smoking indoors, vegetarian home (no corpse in house policy), respect yourself and others, no discrimination will be tolerated.

Program notes
Most of our artistic retreats are not funded, so some costs are borne by the artist in residence to cover logistics (see below). However, we have worked out a virtuous system which, since 2025, has enabled us to offer residencies financed in part by our commercial bed & breakfast business, allowing us to offer greatly reduced logistical costs. We remain at the disposal of artists to provide advice and documentation to help them apply for a third-party grant or other type of funding for a residency, and we are open to organizing workshops / shows / events on site that could help the artist finance his or her stay at Foray. The cost of a retreat depends on the program and the length of your stay - the longer the stay, the lower the daily cost. It also depends on your request/need for care. Fees include access to all areas, accommodation, studios, use of the spacious and well-equipped communal kitchen, laundry, internet fiber, printer. Breakfast and dinner are on a pay-what-you-can/want basis and not mandatory. Lunches are self-catered, unless otherwise requested, which will result in an adjustment to the residence fee. Accommodation consists of a large room with double bed, wardrobe, desk, private bathroom with bath, washbasin and toilet. All our rooms are charming, comfortable and bright. They overlook either the garden or the Yonne valley. Foray is equipped with recording, painting, woodworking and metalworking studios. All spaces can be used and adapted to accommodate the creation of art, music, video, writing, dance... If you need help on your project, ask us! We have material and human ressources to support you.
