About this opportunity

The space

Le Moulin provides two creative spaces within the same building. The Grand Atelier, approximately 90 m², is flooded with light thanks to its windows facing south and west. Its large tables and benches can be moved according to the project. It is suitable for painting, drawing, modeling, sewing, weaving, embroidery and collage. Artists can also use a high-warp loom, a low-warp loom, a wool carding bench and an architect's drawing table. The Sculpture Atelier, approximately 60 m², is intended for noisier or dustier practices, namely working with metal, wood and stone. It includes a workbench, mobile tables, tools for cutting, sanding, filing, drilling and hammering, as well as protective equipment. Sanitary facilities and a large washing basin complete the work spaces.

Surroundings

Le Moulin de la Barde is located in Le Bugue, in the heart of Périgord Noir. This 11th-century building is surrounded by nature and offers a calm, historic setting conducive to a period of focused research. Louise and Koke have restored the place to create a dialogue between art, heritage, local culture and craftsmanship.

Life during a stay

Artists stay in one of two independent accommodations at the Mill. Francine's Studio includes a queen-size bed, an equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and a covered terrace. The Chapel with Roses includes a king-size bed, a mezzanine bed, an equipped kitchen, and a bathroom. Both accommodations can also be combined to welcome up to three people or two couples, depending on availability.

What the artist will do

Artists come to develop a personal project and freely organize their research and production time. The application must explain the practice, the envisioned project, work requirements, desired duration, and expectations for the residency. Available tools and equipment depend on the practice; artists can also bring their own materials.

Good to know

Residencies take place each year in spring, from March 1st to June 30th, and in autumn, from September 1st to December 15th. The minimum duration is 2 weeks and the maximum duration is 2 months. When applying, the Mill would like to know about your practice, the project you would like to develop, the desired duration and dates, as well as your expectations for the stay.
