About this opportunity

The space

Patagonia Argentina is a multidisciplinary residency in a lakeside refuge on the shores of Lago Moreno in Bariloche, Argentina. Set within a 2.5-acre park surrounded by native trees, the property offers direct, private access to the lake. Each artist has a private room and bathroom. Facilities include dedicated workspaces, a communal kitchen, Wi-Fi, electricity and central heating for the Patagonian autumn.

Surroundings

The residency is located in San Carlos de Bariloche, within Nahuel Huapi National Park. Lago Moreno and the surrounding forests of coihue and lenga trees provide a setting for observation, sensory exploration and research rooted in the landscape. During autumn, the changing forest invites residents to slow down and explore the rhythms of their practice alongside the natural environment.

Life during a stay

The program balances independent creative time with optional forest walks, shared explorations, talks and conversations about work in progress. Artists from different disciplines live and work alongside one another, with space for both solitude and exchange. One curator will be on site to offer guidance, support and feedback. A welcome dinner and a farewell dinner are shared with the group. Other meals are not included; residents can use the communal kitchen or nearby dining options.

What the artist will do

Develop your own project, test ideas or research themes inspired by the surroundings. Your practice is self-directed, with no requirement to produce a final exhibition or finished work. You may join optional nature walks, talks and sharing sessions, while deciding how to organize your own time.
