About this opportunity
The space
Catalina Rodríguez Villazón leads daily watercolour sessions that move between the villa studio and the Lanzarote landscape. Participants practise wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and dry techniques, explore colour mixing and tonal gradients, sketch on location and develop compositions from the island's volcanic forms and Atlantic light. Lessons are adapted to the group's pace, with guidance for beginners and room for experienced painters to work more independently.
Surroundings
The retreat takes place in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Planned outings use the island's volcanic coastline, beaches and distinctive light as source material for sketching, reference photography and landscape painting.
Life during a stay
Three nights are included at a private villa with terraces, a pool and a light-filled art studio. Shared and private room options are offered at different prices and should be confirmed with The Sun Collective when booking.
Good to know
The listed price starts at EUR 995. Guests should bring a watercolour box, brushes in two or three sizes, a soft eraser, black pen and pencil. Itinerary
Day 1 · Arrival and first workshop
Arrive, settle into the villa and meet the group before an introductory watercolour session and welcome dinner.
Day 2 · Atlantic views and outdoor sketching
Work outdoors in two guided sessions, gather references and return to the villa for independent studio time.
Day 3 · Landscape and watercolour technique
Develop a landscape through colour mixing, tonal work and layered watercolour, with a second guided session later in the day.
Day 4 · Closing session
Review the work made during the retreat, reflect on the process and prepare for departure.
