About this opportunity
The space
Spend ten days at Il Baciarino in the Tuscan Maremma learning to make art cloth with plants and natural dyes. Chandra Rice leads a group of up to eight through fibre preparation, mordants, leaf printing, dye baths, indigo and resist techniques. Studio demonstrations lead into practical experiments with silk, linen and wool, with time to compare results and build a reference collection of samples and notes. The surrounding garden and landscape provide plants for observation and making. Beginners and experienced makers are welcome.
Surroundings
Il Baciarino is in the hills of the Maremma, with a dedicated studio, running water and outdoor space for steaming and rinsing. The retreat includes organised day trips.
Life during a stay
Accommodation is available on the Il Baciarino property in shared-house rooms or private cottages and is priced separately from the retreat fee.
Good to know
The retreat fee includes teaching, workshop materials and tools, meals and drinks, excursions, and Grosseto train-station transfers. Accommodation is additional. The group is limited to eight; contact Chandra directly for room availability, booking details and access needs.
