About this opportunity
The space
Christopher Cole teaches sketching and painting from direct observation, working with local views, buildings and people. The five tuition days include demonstrations and individual guidance on selecting subjects, composition and colour, using pencil, pen, watercolour and/or acrylics. Three days are planned at selected locations, with access to the hotel's air-conditioned studio throughout the retreat. The exact outdoor locations may change with weather and group needs.
Surroundings
Montelparo is a hilltop village in Italy's Le Marche region. The programme includes an excursion to Ascoli Piceno, with time to explore its historic centre; lunch on that excursion is excluded.
Life during a stay
The seven-night retreat includes an en-suite room at Hotel Leone, daily breakfast, lunch at the hotel or a local eatery, and dinner from the hotel's changing menu. Local wine is served with lunch and dinner. One evening is at a nearby trattoria. Hotel Leone arranges a scheduled shared transfer from Ancona Airport or Pedaso on arrival and departure days, plus transport for group activities.

Arrival is 23 April and departure is 30 April 2027. The scheduled group pickup is listed for 2:30 pm at Ancona Airport or 3:30 pm at Pedaso; the departure transfer leaves after breakfast at 9:30 am. Travel outside these times is self-arranged. The hotel has stairs-only room access, a short sloping cobbled walk to the studio, and potentially uneven streets on location. Ask the host about current availability, materials to bring and any mobility or dietary needs before booking.
