About this opportunity
The space
Everyone works from the same peony reference so Francesca can demonstrate each stage clearly while still offering individual help. Participants learn how to compose a traditional still life, begin with confidence, mix natural colour from a limited palette, paint convincing transparent glass and build soft petals without overworking them. By the end of the day, the aim is a finished 30-by-24-centimetre oil painting and a repeatable understanding of the process.
Surroundings
The workshop takes place at The Artery Worcester. It is a single studio day rather than a residential programme, so participants make their own travel, meal and accommodation arrangements.
Good to know
The class runs November 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and costs GBP 145. Professional oil paints, mediums, easels, studio space and the reference photograph are included. Bring a roughly 30-by-24-centimetre canvas, oil-painting brushes, a palette and an apron or suitable clothing.

Itinerary
Compose and begin
Set up the traditional still-life composition and establish the painting confidently from the shared reference.
Limited palette and luminous colour
Mix natural colour, develop depth and use the dark background to support the peonies.
Petals, glass and finishing
Paint soft petals and transparent glass, refine the atmosphere and bring the 30 by 24 cm work toward completion.
