About this opportunity
The space
Sue O'Mara structures the week around enjoyment, confidence and individual support rather than a single prescribed medium. Participants can choose watercolour, acrylic or graphite and work from subjects around the villa, gardens and nearby village. Daily tuition supports people who have never painted before as well as experienced artists who want focused time in a sunny setting, with a dedicated courtyard painting day extending the studio into Comares.
Surroundings
The retreat takes place at a villa near Comares in southern Spain, with mountain and distant Mediterranean views, olive, lemon and orange groves, a pool and several outdoor working areas. One painting day is held in a village courtyard, with transport from the villa included.
Life during a stay
Four nights are included in a villa where bedrooms have an ensuite or private bathroom. Guests share indoor and outdoor living areas, the pool, terraces and grounds. Non-painting partners can join at a separate published rate.
Good to know
The first 2027 session runs March 1 to 5 and is listed at GBP 990 per painter; a non-painting partner is GBP 550. A 25 percent deposit secures a place. Accommodation, Spanish airport transfers, all food and drinks, painting materials, daily tuition and village transport are included. Flights and travel insurance are excluded.

Itinerary
Arrival and welcome
Transfer from the Spanish airport, settle into the villa and meet the group.
Daily painting
Choose watercolour, acrylic or graphite and work with Sue's guidance around the villa and grounds.
Village courtyard day
Travel together to Comares for a dedicated painting session in the village courtyard.
Meals and free time
Share included food and drinks, relax by the pool and use the gardens and terraces between sessions.
Departure
Complete the five-day retreat and use the included transfer for the return airport journey.
